Exploring the World of Postal Rates

Postal Rate Information and Assistance Needed

The development of these postal rate books is the result of the cooperation of many people and of the gathering of information from many sources. Check below to see what specific information we are currently seeking.

We are always interested in speaking/corresponding with people who have information on postal rates and/or access to resources such as (overseas) postal museums, postal archives, etc. Obtaining copies (originals or photocopies) of official source materials can be very challenging and often requires a person with "local access".

All assistance received will be gratefully acknowledged. Individuals who can provide the bulk of the information for a country may be listed as an author or even the primary author, as appropriate.

Regardless of whether or not a country is listed below, we are interested in documenting the postal rates for all countries. If you have have an interest in the postal rates of any country and either have information or access to information, please let us know. Your initiative may result in a new book.

We are always looking for all types of:
official postal rate charts, books, and publications
journal articles relating to postal rates (in all languages)
postal rate books (in all languages).

Specific Countries: Top
We are specifically currently developing publications for the following countries and welcome input, suggestions and information.

Canada:
Though the first edition of the Canada book is "complete", we recognize the need for much more airmail and foreign airmail rate information (we have since obtained permission to use significant newly published information) as well as more depth in many areas. We particularly seek references to postal rate articles and originals or photocopies of official post office postal rate charts and books.

Great Britain:
Though the first edition of the Great Britain book is "complete", we recognize the need for much more airmail and foreign airmail rate information. Unfortunately, permission to use previously published information has been declined and we are having difficulty obtaining original official source documents. We need (copies of) original source materials (rate charts).

Scandinavian Countries, in general:
We especially need..... official rate charts/books, and any other information, including references to previously published information. In particular, we need source materials for foreign airmail rates.

Denmark:
Work on Denmark's rates is well underway and we generally have excellent information sources. Unfortunately, permission to use previously published AIRMAIL rate (domestic and foreign) information has been declined and we are having difficulty obtaining original official source documents. We need (copies of) original source materials (rate charts).

Australia:
We especially need..... official rate charts/books, and any other information, including references to previously published information.

Ireland:
We especially need..... official rate charts/books, and any other information, including references to previously published information.

Germany:
Work on Germany is very far along, with most portions of the manuscript completed. However, we especially need..... official rate charts/books, and any other information, including references to previously published information. We have a particular need for post-1980 rate charts and information.

Netherlands:
We especially need..... official rate charts/books, and any other information, including references to previously published information.
